HSI, ERO support active shooter response and investigation at NAS Pensacola
PENSACOLA, Fla. – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) have been supporting the joint response and investigation to the active shooter at Naval Air Station Pensacola since the first moments of the attack.
“The full resources of HSI and ERO, domestically and internationally, are being leveraged to support this joint investigation with the FBI, NCIS, JTTF, ATF and numerous local, state and federal partners,” said HSI Tampa Special Agent in Charge James C. Spero. “This is an important time to stand together and remember everyone has a role in making our communities safe, if you see something, say something.”
Special agents, computer forensic analysts and deportation officers from the HSI Mobile, Pensacola, Panama City, Tallahassee, Tampa and Headquarters, in addition to ERO officers from Jacksonville and Tampa, are supporting the investigation into the active shooter at NAS Pensacola.
Here is one of the latest public updates from the FBI: The investigation into the NAS Pensacola shooting remains active. This work includes the ongoing collection of facts, as well as legal considerations based on those facts. The FBI continues to work with the presumption that this was an act of terrorism, and our unified goal remains clear: to determine if the shooter acted alone or if anyone assisted, provided support for, or had knowledge of his attack in advance.
